The gift of the kingdom
The power and the wisdom. God the Father has given himself to us. Yet the gift is still to be realized in experience. He chose us in the form of the foundation of the world. So that our kingdom of God is the consequence, not the condition of his choice. It is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. the kingdom. Therefore we do not earn in spite of others' speech to the contrary. You've got to earn. You've got to do this and do that and do the other. It's a gift. It's a gift. If it is earned, it is no longer a gift. It's your duty. For this is a gift. And everyone in the world will receive it.
Wisdom versus knowledge
will be seeable. That's why we were chosen for the foundation of the world. This teaching Paul tells us is a stumbling block to Jews and false to Gentiles. For we preach that he Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Now we must not confuse wisdom with knowledge. We deepen the issue when we regard wisdom with knowledge. Wisdom is revealed and not logically proven. Knowledge is science. You can prove it. You can prove the theory that you had concerning the movement that can be proved Einstein's theory there was theory but in time man devised the means to test them and either prove or disprove them so far they have been proved but they have been proved that's knowledge but visions are described in scripture as wisdom they are revelation revelation of divine truth.
In the end, all knowledge will cease to be, but wisdom will remain. These visions are eternal. So Paul speaks of Christ as the power of God and the wisdom of God. Now what do we mean by power? Certainly, the most well, I would say the definition of, will be affected in achieving one's purposes. But these are the purposes of God. Yet we can use power on this level to achieve a certain objective. But I'm speaking now of the power of Christ. It's entirely different from anything known to man, unless you have the experience. You've tasted before the end. Before you are awakened from this dream, you will taste of this power. And may I tell you, it is dark.
Tasting the power of God
It's not destructive in the sense of a city with a hydrogen bomb or many bombs. It's got a thing to do with that power. Here is a taste of it. You come into a place just like this. When I first tasted of it, many years ago, I found myself moving in time. I would say backwards in time, judged by the costume, judged by the clothes. I would say it was 150 years ago, land of ours, in the East. I would say it was in the New England States. Looking at the people that I saw. I was taken into this place, and here is a wonderful restaurant of the day, 150 years ago. It was a Sunday afternoon.
I saw a table of four, two young men in their early twenties, undoubtedly college students, and then what would be their parents. And then came a lady, a lady, bringing a tray of food to the table. She had already served the course of soup. There was a huge bay window through which I could look. And through this window, I could see the grass moving. The wind was blowing. It was fall. I could see the leaves falling. They were dropping. I could see a bird in flight. I saw other diners. And at that moment I knew that if I could arrest an activity that I felt in me, everything would stand still. I knew it I knew it I no sooner knew it than I tried it and I arrested the activity in me or in my head and everything stood still the bird flying flew not the grass moving the leaves falling the waitress walking the diners dining, And everyone was as things in the museum, as though they were made of clay.
I examined them all. They're all dead. One moment before, they were all living beings, and everything was alive. The bird in flight, arrested, should pour, should gravitate to the law, to his absolute. If it is arrested in flight, that thing should fall. It didn't fall. Stood still, just as I am arrested. Leaves I could see, but they did not fall. Everything stood still. The grass stood still. The waitress stood still. Understandable. If you talk to the floor and hear these dying, one patient, one young boy, two years of age. He had the spoon almost to his mouth. And it was perfect. He could not move it. I looked at it. I looked at it. He looked like death itself.
Then I released it back where it was in me. And everything continued in its course. The bird continued in its flight. The leaves continued to fall. The wages continued to fall. and he brought the human that was fair to his mouth, and he completed the act. Then I knew that everything was within me, that all that I beheld without, he was within, in my own wonderful human imagination, of which this word of more terror is but a shadow. It is not taking place there at all. It's taking place within me. And I take it of the power of God. That's tasting of the power. For he defines Christ in the first chapter of his first letter to the Corinthians.
Wisdom personified as a child
The 24th verse. Christ the power of God. And the wisdom of God. Now wisdom is now defined in scripture as a child. personified. We speak of wisdom as a person. But may I tell you man is everything in this world. So everything we read can be personified. The 8 chapters personify wisdom. And now wisdom is made to speak. These are his words. God possessed me at the beginning At the beginning of his way. The first of his acts of old. When he laid out the foundations of the earth. I was beside him. Like a little child. I was daily his delight. Rejoicing before him all. Rejoicing in his habitant work. Delighting in the son of man.
Now he talks. Now he talks now. to the sons of men. And he tells them, he who finds me finds life and obtains favor from God. He who misses me ages himself. All who hate love death. You read it? You said, what is he talking about? He's a little child. He's a little child. This is the one child in Idaean. The personification of one day you will find the child. When you find the child then you receive favor from God. Or the child is but a symbol of his creative power. His creative wisdom. You'll find that child. Those who Those who make me into themselves, those who hate me, I tell you the world, they have no interest in it, none whatsoever.
They do not wish to hear about it. To them it's stupid. It's folly to the Gentiles, folly to the Greeks, and certainly a humbling block to those who look for it in some other form. Who is the child? The child, personified in Scripture. It's called the infant child. One day you will be facing your head, and you will see him as your child. But he also is a youth. As told in the ninth chapter of Isaiah, to us a child is born, born. To us a son is given. The son is given. For no man knows the father except the son. And no one knows the son except the father. And anyone to whom the son is revealed is to reveal it.
David reveals the father
So like no man has ever seen God. The only son who is in the bosom of the Father has made him known. So unless the son makes him known, you will never know the Father. I'll tell you who he is. Now, this is only a symbol. But when you meet the symbol, it's a living thing as you are now. And it's David. David. Robert Browning in his poem, Saul, Saul. Now Saul was a demented king. An insane man. And in this poem he has David. And David is about to tell the king of the coming of Messiah. Of the coming of Christ. And standing in the presence of the king, Browning has him say, day also a face like my face shall receive me.
A man like unto me thou shalt love and be loved by forever. A hand like this hand shall open the gates of new life to thee. See, see the Christ stand. It takes the Christ to reveal the Father. He tells you, look at me, Saul, and see the Christ there. But Saul was demeaning. We all are. We were suffering from total amnesia. I could not recognize the Son. So the Son is screaming out, morning, noon, and night, to the Father in all. But we are come to see you and do not recognize the Son. One day he stands before you and then there is no uncertainty as to this relation, none whatsoever. And you recognize your son.
Memory returns. And then you realize that God the Father actually became you. That you may become God. God, and you look at his son, the only begotten son, and you know he is your son. And he knows you are his father. And then you realize the gift that was given, that was bestowed upon you. He gave you his power, and he gave you his wisdom. And you were tasted before you before you depart the world, after you have had these experiences, and when you take off this garment, you'll be clothed in a highly different form. For with all the identity of this, I'll know you in eternity. There is a radical transformation of form. Yet I'll know you.
And I'll know you but your fall will be entirely different and I'll know that faith raised to the degree of beauty and magic same faith but oh what a glorious faith that was so just by the light we live while here and I am not speaking of any reincarnation I tell you you're not reincarnated You are individualized. And you came for whatever greater and greater and greater individualization. You are now completely individualized. I'll know that. The face is raised to the degree of beauty and magic and a strength of character that you could not believe that eternity would be long enough to produce. That's the being that you are destined to one day and it's you.
And I'll know you as the risen Lord. I'll know you as God himself. And yet I'll know you as my friend. I'll train that I know and now I'll know you as my friend. I will know you as God himself. himself. So he tells us in his wonderful chapter concerning life. You will not come to me. You search the scripture because you think in them you have eternal life. I it is they who bear witness to me. Yet you will not come to them that you may have life. You think in them, you find it.
And people will all day long search and search and search. And one comes upon the scene. It's not what they were looking for. For listen to the one who comes upon the scene. He is clad in a robe dipped in blood.
And the name by which he is called is the word of God. of God. Are you dipped in a row of blood? Are you not now wearing a flesh and blood? Is this not something you are now getting in blood? Fetch yourself and see if it's not blood. And who wears it? The word of God. For who is the word of God?
The word made flesh within
Are we not told in the beginning was the word and the word was the Word was with God and the Word was God. It's God Himself. God actually became as we are. That we may be as He is. That is the myth. So you're now wearing a gift in blood.
And the name And thy name by which you are called is the word of God. And there is the greatness. And the word became flesh. And dwelt. Now the translation is among us. But the preposition is within. It is not among us. It is inner.
God cannot be so far off as to be near. For nearer lies separation. separation. Or then, where is it? Name forever and forever and forever I am. I can put the body out there and look at it, but I can't think I am out there and look at it. I am the observing being. I can observe all the things around about me, but I can't observe the observer. the observer I can see my self in the office revealing all the activity within me but I the observer can't look at it as another observer so
God can never be so far off as to be near because near no matter how near implies separation and he is not separated from you he actually is your very being, your true identity of man, is God.
Now dismiss the unholy good deeds, and you will taste the power unknown to mortal minds. You will taste of a wisdom. You will be able to interpret all the phenomena of life. For everything in the world within itself has the capacity for some symbolic significance. Significant. And you will see something that means nothing to the mind as it walks by. And you will interpret the action. You'll actually be able to interpret the dream, the vision.
Because it's all the language of God. Three men walk by. And to the average person, three men walk by. They're not just three men walking by when you begin to unbow. both. So a woman gets upon the bus, followed by a man. Followed by a man. And you interpret the phenomena that is unfolding before you. That's wisdom.
Everything in the world dreaming at you and telling you what it represents in this world. But man is completely blind and he confuses wisdom which is revealed to him with knowledge which is which is science. ¶Now he is not science, no. But in the end it will all say that Zoe would never part of the world. So here, power and wisdom, the gift that God gives to his son. Now he delights in the sons of men. Well, who does he call himself in Scripture? He speaks to himself more often than any other title, as the Son of Man, as the singular of the sons of men. What does he mean by it? A son of man is that which comes out of man, as told us in the seventh chapter of the book of 2 Samuel.
Go and tell my servant David. And who is David? I have found in David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who will do all by my will. Now the central figure in the gospel speaks of himself as the son of God, but he speaks more often as the son of man. of man and he tells you I have come to you to do the will of him that sent me not my will but thine be thine for then who is that one? We are told that David was the one that he chose and he called David the one after his own heart who will do all my will and who was David?
And who was David? He was the son of Jesse. Jesse means your hope will exist. That's what the word means. Any form of the verb to be. In other words, I am. He's the son of I. So in the seventh chapter of 2nd Samuel, he turns to his prophet. Go and tell my servant David that when his days are fulfilled and he lies down with his father. I will raise up a son who shall come from all people but his body. And I will be his father. And he shall be my son. Something comes out of man. It is you. It is your own identity. Not another. But what comes out? For all the... I would say...
I would say that the person that you are, there's going to be a radical transformation of form. It's not the same form. It's not feet and things that you have there. No. You're building the same identity, but a form that is altogether different. It's a form that is power. It's infinite power. And you do not have exercises in the sense of doing this or doing that. This is what I mean by it. If closed in that body you don't inhale, instantly you will be transformed into heaven without raising one single of the transformers. ¶I know this from experience. The year was 1946, and I tasted of the wisdom of God and the power of God.
Vision of healing the imperfect
I was on a ship coming to the Calvary from Fort of Trinidad in Mobile, Alabama. Seven days at sea. It was a freighter bringing bauxite into the oven in Alabama. The only carry twelve had I retired early, my wife and my little girl. Now the thing to do aboard a ship like that, other than simply enjoy the flea -meagol breezes, and then see, so I turned in quite early. And in the wee hours of the morning, I felt myself like a fiery beast, Being pulled out of my soul in the form of a step, like a spiral motion. And here I am, here I am, clothed in tally -dip. I am fire and air. My body is simply one living body, unlike anything I had ever experienced.
And as tall as my eye could see was a huge scene of human imperfection. The blind, the faint, the bald, the poor, everything. Everything. All imperfect. I glided in the body of light. I did not need the sun. I did not need the moon, the stars, anything. To illuminate my world. I was luminous enough. As I delighted, I became the illuminator. The air that I wanted to see. As I came, I knew they were waiting to see me. Waiting for me. As I glided right into the perfection that I felt myself to be, I was made perfect. And as I walked by everyone, I had to be perfect in my presence. Eyes that were missing came out of nowhere and filled the empty sockets.
The hands that were missing filled the empty sockets. Those who could not walk, they walked for joy. for joy, everything with paper, and this heavenly chorus, of complimenting, and called me by my earthly nephrol. They said, nephrol is risen. And I first came up, and then from then, that wonderful choral group sang my praises, and all words, nephrol is risen. But I can't describe how this heavenly chorus, They called me those three words. And you, and you, in such a dramatic, wonderful way, changing the words. The music was fantastic. And these voices formed the music. I only heard the voices. Just the words. Just the words. But they could take it and blend it. Beautiful, beautiful.
At the very end of the very last one, was made perfect. This heavenly chorus rang out, it is finished. And then I felt myself actually come down into this garment. And this was like a straight jam. This was something so cramped, so complete, so cramped, that no straight body could be more confined than this body was when I came down into it. So I take of the wisdom of God and the power of God. So I didn't have to do a thing to transform these people. My very presence transformed. So I know the kingdom of heaven is a body. And close in this body, wherever you go, is heaven. Milton said, if I make my bed in hell, thou art there.
Make it in heaven, thou art there. If I take my wings and fly, and put the words into the mouth of Satan, it is hell, for I myself am hell. If I am hell, where I go, it becomes hell. comes here. Confucius. Confucius. Haven't you met people, no matter where they go, that they're disturbing the entire evening, whole day? Bring the mean, it's a place. I had a friend of mine in New York City. His name was Milo. I was the funnel. Take him to Carnegie Hall and put Milo at the end of the pile, standing standing in the back, and have Milo walk them that third or fourth row. He bumped into everyone in this world.
He could no longer walk them an aisle and go without hitting them. He struck this one, struck this one, struck that one, struck the other one. One night at home, he shook my hand to say goodbye, opened the wrong door, and went right into the closet. Milo could no more stop that. He just simply could use everything. If he came home and died, well, I had to wash everything on the table. He would use everything with wrong, and yet, he was a delightful person. But Milo was so confused. That was Milo's life. Well, now this is the harmony, the on -nation, the body that is young, when you awaken. And wherever you are, If you stood in the petrified forest, the whole vast forest would burst into foliage.
The body of resurrection
¶If you went through the desert, you would blossom like the rose. ¶Things long day become alive because you are alive. ¶For you are the resurrection day. ¶You are the God of the living. ¶And so all your days become a lamp in your presence. ¶This is the power and the wisdom of which I speak. ¶And I am not theorized. ¶I am not speculating. ¶I have tasted the power. ¶By taste I mean goodness. ¶I have experienced the power and the wisdom of God. ¶And when this little dormant comes off for the last time, in the not distant future I am clothed in that body forever and the day will come you will be clothed in a similar body he gives you the body as has chosen so let no one frighten that you have earned the kingdom of heaven you do not earn it it is the condition of his joy ¶It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
¶So when people tell you you've got to do that, you've got to do that in order to get it, then it's not a gift. ¶You earn it. ¶It's something that is due to. ¶That's your wages. ¶Don't tell me at the end of the week, or by the week, or by the month, and you pay me what I have earned. ¶Give me something. ¶I recall once my publisher, at the end of six months, when he gave me a very big check, and his wife said, you haven't given me anything. ¶You've only now put into my home what you've been using for the last six months. ¶I'm coming here every day, and you paid me that day.
¶I didn't do that. ¶I waited for the money that would give me the accumulated money. ¶So at the end of six months, you used that money. ¶You put that money in the bank. ¶So if you did not have the money from the bank, it was my money. ¶Because it accumulated and it was a good big check. ¶You now feel poor. ¶That you've gained me so much. of your mind. ¶You didn't give me one great penny. ¶You just simply took one that you accumulated, used without interest. ¶And then put it in my hand. ¶But you never repeated that again. ¶Why care you? ¶This is a gift. ¶You don't earn the kingdom. ¶It is God's good flesh who give it to you.
The gift must be realized in experience
¶And he has already given it. ¶But the gift has not yet been realized. ¶It is yet to be realized. ¶In experience. ¶And so I'm sharing with you the experience. ¶It comes suddenly, without warning. ¶And then you taste of it. ¶You tell it to the brain. ¶Those who are not yet called to receive it will laugh at you and say hallucinations. ¶All right. ¶Let them be. ¶Let them be. they will one day get it even though today they'll laugh at it one day they will get it but he calls it one by one in the 27th chapter of the book of Isaiah I will call you one by one people of Israel, well who are the people of Israel?
¶Let me quote to you now the 8th of the 30th chapter of Deuteronomy: ¶He has put a calling to the number of the sons of God. ¶Not one child can be born in this world, but what it is a God that the son of God will. ¶That he's going to call his sons one by one. ¶All in good time, good time in his own order. When he calls, how does he call? He sends a famine upon the land. It's not a famine for bread, nor a hunger for bread or water, but for the hearing of the word of God. Then not a thing in this world can satisfy you, but an experience of God in the hunger is on you.
Yes, the fields may be And all the food in the world and all the money to buy it. But if the hunger is for the word of God, nothing can satisfy you but an experience of God. That's when he calls his friends upon the land. Not a hunger for bread or a thirst for water, but for the hearing of the word of God. When that comes upon you, I don't care what the world will say. They can't turn you away from that experience. It can't satisfy you. There is not one temptation in the world that can't satisfy you. ¶Officer Knife, the President, are the creditors of the world. It could not satisfy you. You wouldn't want it.
You want to regard. You don't want it. You don't want it as hearsay. You want it from something that actually takes place with you, that you know from experience. And you will never know it unless his son reveals it. And when his son comes into your presence, then you know who God is. And in knowing who God is, you know who you are. For I am telling you, you are God. You are actually the only God. there can be nothing but God there is no room for another in the universe ¶he brought this wonderful world into existence as a theater to manifest his power and his wisdom and his love for his son because he is going to give himself to his son not loan himself actually become the result.
That's the mystery. So this power, and they are in the audience tonight, those who have tasted of the power, those who have tasted, I hope, of the wisdom, them. ¶Well, you know you do nothing. It is so because you are perfect. Before you're told be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect. When that perfection is yours, everything in the world is perfect. And no matter what happens to you and those you love, you still cannot hold and contain the thought that God is cruel, even though it appears to be a horrible thing taking place in your most intimate world, yet you still maintain the conviction that God is love. For when you experience infinite love, another thing in the world could turn you around that conviction.
You know God, you know God, all there is, all there isn't. And you stand at the edge of the age of the day, and you can't think of anything but now. And the age of the day embraces you, you become one bar, the age of the day. ¶And then you are sent. And you do the job, you're sent to be. And then as you are sent, you are the word. and his name shall be called the word of God and you are told my word shall not return unto me void for it shall accomplish that which I have and prosper in the things for which I sing it cannot come back void so you will return to the Father having accomplished the work that you need to do and that return you are God God.
How to use the power of assumption
¶You are God's father. I'm not here to fathom you. I'm not here to change what you're doing now. If you feel that you have not completed the world of Caesar and you want something better, a bigger home, or more, more money, more fame, more recognition, if that's your hunger, may I tell you, you're entitled to it. And you can get it. You can get it simply assuming the feeling of the wishful being, and remaining faithful to that assumption, and if you remain faithful to that assumption, it would become a fact. He puts no limit on the power of meaning, none whatsoever. Whatsoever you desire, believe that you have the strength and you will. you will.
That is the promise made in the book of Mark. It doesn't say it's good for you or it is wrong. If you desire there is no restriction upon the limit of belief. None. So if you know what you want there's soon that you have to live as though you want it and live in the end You in the world from the end, instead of thinking of the end. Because God in becoming man does not think of man, but thinks from man. That's the degree. So being imitated of God as their children. So God in becoming man is thinking of Neville. He is Neville. And he is thinking from Neville. so if I would imitate him I cannot think of what I want I must think from him if I want to be this that or the other assume the feeling of my wish fulfilled and then think from it that's the secret and you'll become it you'll become it I'm telling you I cannot to want an experience of God it comes from your own father and the depth of your own being And when you really are right for that experience, you will sing the chancre that nothing in this world can be worse but an experience of God.
God to have it. And you may go through a thousand, a one -thousand, a one -thousand, a one -thousand, a one -thousand alley, but you're going to have it. And you'll come to the end and you'll realize that the Jewish Christian faith is the one one solid rock in this world. There is no Christianity without Judaism. And Judaism without Christianity would be a tree without flower. Without tree. Judaism is a tree. Christianity is a fulfillment. And a tree must fulfill its purpose. If it's an apple tree, bear up. And so And so Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism. And you can't divorce them. That is the solid foundation. All these others come with their little concepts of life.
Taking you to some holy place in the country. And changing your physical diet and all these things. You earn it. You don't earn it that way. You hear the story and then you react. believe, either believe it or you don't believe it. So Paul says in the last years of his life, teaching Christ from the law of the prophet and the song. And some believe what they heard, while others disbelieve. There was no new test. He was only telling his own experiences based upon the law and the law of the prophet and the song. and so he reinterpreted the Bible in his own experience and some believed it others disbelieved it so one day the tree will bloom and you will know how true the Christian faith is but it could not be unless there was the great glory of Judaism because Judaism is the foundation stone Christianity is the truth It's four mil.
When you hear one nice remark about the Jew or the Christian, don't react. They don't know what they do. Leave them alone. They could not be one without the other. As the late Bishop Pike said, when asked if he was a Jew, some person undoubtedly This is like what he said from the cross behind him. And he said, yes, I am a Jew. I am a Jew because I am a Christian. I could be a Jew and not be a Christian. But I cannot be a Christian and not be a Jew. Because I can be an apple tree and not bear an apple. But I can have an apple and deny the apple tree. Let us go into the silence.
